Killjoys 3.02 synopsis

Turin insists Dutch and D’Avin take a few of the Rack’s best brains for a test drive mission, in search for a temporary replacement for Johnny. The rookies soon find themselves over their heads, trapped in an abandoned black site bent on killing them all.
Across the J, Johnny finds himself in hot water of his own as his search for Clara leads him to a mysterious skin rejuvenation centre, hiding an even bigger mystery under its surface.

Clara? Clara! You changed! That explains why Clara and Ollie are pretty similar, lol. If no one writes tropey amnesia fic featuring a memory jammer, fandom will have let me down once again.

I don't think I understood from Clara's story last season that *all* Hackmods were made against their wills? This story has gotten extra depressing.

D'AVIN: I smell great.

One, I love that D'avin is ready to bicker with any long-haired misanthrope willing to flirt back. Two, does he not remember entering the ship? Is he a sleeper agent? Why would he be keeping quiet wth. Three, I love D'avin's pouty comedy face it ia a bulletproof laugh for me. Four they shouted out the sexual tension! More than once! I'm just going to slink off to my table of one and eat that up. Also their dorky little high five after telling Turin they blew up the data, omg.

Hannah John-Kamen's unhinged alien queen face makes me want to hide in fear. But in a good way.

So far this season is doing a less awkward job with the ties between weekly plot and season plot and general mythology. Last season having all the warrants be mythology-related an unconvincing lack of subtlety. But this season should be less about exposing the Big Bad and more about fighting it, anyway? Hmmn.

Johnny! The band is back together! This show has the best hugs, am I right or am I right.

This was one of the episodes of this show that makes me want to go back and watch a ton of other episodes. The Clara / Ollie plot was so cool, but now I want to rewatch to have all the other Clara stories makes sense in this context.

Also, wow, Aneela is nothing like Dutch or any of her aliases. Hannah John-Kamens is astounding.

HJK is amazing in so many ways! I rewatched the show in March-ish, and I'm still not sure it was recently enough to help me track all the mythos-related stuff getting thrown at us, hee. Lots going on, but that's what we're here for I guess.

She is so so so good in this dual role. And yay, Delle Seyah Kendry is on the ship with the alien queen! I can't wait to see her made into the queen's bitch. :D

Queen vs queen! Delle Seyah out of her element should be interesting. She did say last season that she was in this mess for the promise of immortality, so I guess maybe she got what she wanted? We'll see what the price is and if she thinks it was worth it.

SexyManBeast Johnny is my fave Johnny alias.

I like the hackmods so much and hope we see them again, but I liked Clara more than Olli, so that part was sad.

And new nerd girl was cool. During the fakeout ending, I turned to my roomate and said "huh, I read that wrong, I totally thought she would be a recurring character." :)

Johnny flirting with himself was too funny.

Yeah, the fakeout was narratively necessary, I kinda think, because otherwise it would have seemed pretty self-evident that the brash female character was the one joining the team.

Hannah John-Kamen is glorious.

One thing I noticed so far this season - a lot more usage of the term 'bitch' than in the previous two seasons. Has someone in the writer's team or something been replaced? It feels a little weird to me.

I'm not sure about the writing team, hmmn. The showrunner remains the same, and I remember them using that word a few times previously. Usually it's Dutch saying it I think, she's called Aneela a bitch before. I remember because it always makes me kinda uncomfortable! I think it stands out due to being two episodes in a row, but we can hope that they've used up their allotment I guess.
