I'll be honest, I have no idea how I felt about this. Aneela calling Johnny "Johnny Favourite" was cute, and so was Gared trying to take care of Pree while Pree humoured him, and that's it for the list of things that cheered me up. I liked the voice overs on the nature of memory too, it fits in with the show's thesis on how our bad experiences fit into who we are but...the Lady's ultimate weapon has been memory this whole time, not just as a function of the green? Did we know that? One minute I'm watching my space show and the next minute we're in that Denzel Waahington movie where the devil can jump from body to body?
(On top of which, forgetting that the Lady had the ability to look like Aneela seems like a big mistake for our heroes to have made?)
Oh, and it was nice to see Pawter again. But I really want to know more about the Lady and how everyone forgetting actually helps her - it's not like she declared herself queen? Need to read more opinions while I ponder. What did you guys think?
I am very unsure about the fact that the weird Lady-verse seems to ship Dutch/Johnny, which is ... um. No, Lady, that is super evil, okay? We do not ship Dutch/Johnny, Lady!
Hee! I'm sure some people were into it and I'm happy for them, but yeah I'm with you. It was a bit of an uncomfortable beat for me given the show's obsession with bodily autonomy ie consent, too. We'll see how it plays out.
I absolutely LOVED Turin calling out Aneela for killing Alvis and being genocidal in general for the whole of season three! As much as I understand that they need Aneela to fight the Lady, and that regaining her memories has improved at least some of her more volatile antics, I hate that for the most part, Aneela's previous actions have simply been glossed over and never brought up again. So I actually cheered for Turin when he wasn't willing to let it go so easily. Furthermore, I totally adored the following stand-off between Aneela, Turin and the Jaqobis brothers. Good thing, too that Aneela thought Turin pulling the gun on her was amusing, otherwise she would have no doubt wiped the floor with him.
Best lines in that scene: Turin's, "Who said arrest?!" and Aneela's condescending assessment, "It gives them meaning and us entertainment."
